Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to the website we build for you and the hosting we provide. We've tried to write them in plain English rather than legalese, so you can see exactly where you stand before you commit to anything.
1. Who we are
Ready Set Web is a trading name of Pixel Patch Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. We provide website design, build and hosting services to businesses in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at adam@readysetweb.co.uk.
Our service is provided to businesses. By entering into an agreement with us you confirm you are acting for the purposes of a business, trade or profession.
2. Your free website
We design and build your website at no charge. There is no setup fee and no design fee. We build it from your Google Business Profile and anything else you send us, and you get to review it before it goes live.
You are under no obligation to proceed. If you review your website and decide not to go ahead, you owe us nothing and no hosting begins.
3. Hosting, term and payment
- Hosting is £24 per month, including VAT, and begins when your website goes live.
- There is no minimum term. Hosting runs month to month for as long as you want it.
- Hosting is paid monthly in advance — each payment covers the month ahead.
- If an invoice is not paid, we will contact you. We may suspend your website while an account is overdue, and we may end the agreement if it remains unpaid.
Pixel Patch Ltd is registered for VAT. The £24 monthly hosting price includes VAT — it is the full amount you pay. Where a price is shown as "+ VAT" (such as a .com domain or a domain transfer), VAT is added at the prevailing rate.
4. Cancelling
We ask for 30 days' notice to cancel. Please send this in writing to adam@readysetweb.co.uk.
You can give notice whenever you like — there is no tie-in and no cancellation fee. Your hosting runs for 30 days from the day we receive your notice, and that final month is payable.
If you have paid for a year in advance, your hosting runs to the end of the year you have paid for. We do not refund part of a year.
5. Domain names
- The free domain included with your hosting is a .co.uk, registered on your behalf. There is nothing further to pay for it while you are hosted with us.
- The free domain covers .co.uk only. If you would prefer a .com, we can register one for you at £50 + VAT per year, charged annually for as long as you keep it.
- If your agreement ends, we switch off automatic renewal on your domain. Once a domain passes its expiry date it will eventually be released and become available for anyone to register. We cannot be held liable if your domain is released and is no longer available to you.
- If you want to keep your domain, tell us before your agreement ends so we can arrange the transfer while it is still yours to move.
- Transferring a domain away from us carries an administration charge of £100 + VAT.
6. Your website
- Your website is not built on a content management system. There is no administration area and no login, so you are not able to edit the site yourself. Every change is made by us — see clause 8 for what that covers.
- Websites are not transferable. The website we build is provided as part of your hosting with us and cannot be moved to another host or provider.
- We do not archive websites. Your website will be deleted the day after your agreement ends, and we will not be able to restore it afterwards.
- The words, photographs and other material you supply remain yours throughout. We'd strongly encourage you to keep your own copies of anything you'd want again — particularly photographs — as we cannot provide them back once the site has been deleted.
7. What we need from you
To build and run your website we need you to give us accurate information, and to have the right to use any content you send us. Please don't send us anything you don't own or have permission to use.
You agree not to use your website for anything unlawful, or for content that is misleading, offensive or infringes somebody else's rights. We may suspend or remove a site being used in that way.
8. Changes and support
Because your website has no administration area for you to log into (clause 6), every change is made by us. Small content updates — changing your opening hours, swapping a photograph, correcting a phone number — are covered as part of your hosting. You can send us changes here.
Because it is included rather than charged for, updates are subject to a fair-use allowance of up to 10 photographs and around one A4 page of wording (roughly 500 words) per month, plus any number of small corrections. We apply this sensibly and will not withhold a reasonable request because you have had a busier month than usual, but we may discuss moving to a paid arrangement if usage is consistently well beyond it.
Larger pieces of work — new pages, a redesign, or anything beyond keeping your existing site current — are quoted before we start, and we will never carry out chargeable work without agreeing it with you first.
9. Availability
We host on fast UK servers and aim to keep your website online at all times. We can't guarantee uninterrupted service — occasional maintenance, and faults outside our control, are a fact of life on the internet. We'll always work to put problems right quickly.
10. Our liability
We provide our services with reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of anticipated savings. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the hosting fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a change that materially affects you, we'll tell you by email. The version published here is the one that applies.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, ask us before you commit — we'd far rather explain it now than have it come as a surprise later. Email adam@readysetweb.co.uk.
